Years after her separation from professional athlete Tom Brady, Bridget Moynahan has finally found happiness in love.

Her Journey as a Single Mother

At 52, Bridget Moynahan opened up about her unexpected journey as a single mother in a 2008 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She admitted, “I never thought I would raise a child alone,” adding, “and I want something equal to that in my life, as a partner, a lover, a friend.”

Discovering her pregnancy was not only a shock for the actress and former model, but it also posed a challenge, especially since Moynahan had always believed in marriage before children.

In the same interview, she said, “I’m a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I always thought that’s the way I’d be doing this. For a moment, it was hard for me to accept that this was the way I was going to have a family.”

Her Relationship with Tom Brady

Moynahan’s relationship with former NFL star Tom Brady ended “amicably” in December 2006, as reported by People. However, things took an unexpected turn when she discovered she was three months pregnant soon after their breakup.

By then, Brady had moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen, whom he reportedly met on a blind date the same month he split with Moynahan, according to WSJ Magazine, which added complexity to the situation.

Reflecting on the “traumatic” experience, Moynahan admitted that she had to go through her pregnancy and welcome a child under significant media scrutiny, saying, “I’m not sure anyone – and I could be wrong in this – grows up thinking, I want to be a single mom.”

While Moynahan focused on raising her son, Jack, Brady married Bündchen in February 2009, as per Vogue France. The couple welcomed their first child, Benjamin, 10 months later, followed by their second, Vivian, in December 2012. After 13 years together, they divorced in 2022.

In her memoir, Bündchen acknowledged that the impending birth of Brady and Moynahan’s child was challenging for her, saying (via Us Weekly), “Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant. The very next day, the news was everywhere, and I felt my world got turned upside down.”

Ultimately, Moynahan found comfort in her son, John “Jack” Edward Thomas, born in 2007.
