‘$5 billion’: Meghan Markle’s next career move

The Duchess of Sussex has surprised fans by making a bold shift in her post-royal career—stepping into the world of alcohol branding, starting with a rosé wine and expanding from there.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan is developing a full line of alcoholic products under her As Ever label, beginning with rosé and eventually including ready-made cocktails and high-end drinks like flower-infused gin.

A source close to the Sussexes revealed, “The rosé wine is only the first product in what she and Netflix hope will be a substantial alcohol range.”

If successful, Meghan will join a long list of celebrities-turned-drink moguls—Kylie Minogue, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, John Legend, and Brad Pitt among them.

The list goes on with gin producers like Ryan Reynolds and Idris Elba, and tequila brands from George Clooney and The Rock. Even Buckingham Palace has its own label.

So, it seems Meghan has made her choice. After leaving behind royal duties and years of speculation about possible political ambitions, she’s now leaning fully into lifestyle and influencer culture. The move feels like a natural evolution—perhaps even inevitable—for someone who once ran a lifestyle blog, The Tig, before royal life prompted its shutdown.

In recent weeks, the duchess has signaled a clear shift toward a brand-focused public image. From polished beach photos with Cartier accessories to upbeat social media videos—like a clip of her dancing shortly before giving birth—Meghan appears ready to embrace a new phase of public engagement.

A source confirmed that one particular video was “a huge hit,” and she and her team considered it “a win,” likely anticipating that such buzz would translate to product sales.

She’s even shared rare, intimate moments of family life—images of her daughter Princess Lilibet, clips from a family trip to Disneyland, and candid shots with her husband Prince Harry and their kids. All of it suggests a full embrace of the influencer lifestyle, perhaps with a Kardashian-like blueprint in mind. This path wasn’t always the expected one.

Early in her American chapter, there were reports that Meghan was exploring politics, possibly eyeing public office.

Living in California and connected to high-profile figures like Oprah, it seemed a plausible route. But somewhere along the way, she chose branded cocktails over ballot measures.

In many ways, it’s a return to her roots. Back in 2014, before her royal transformation, Meghan was blogging about style, travel, and food. Now, she’s back in the entrepreneurial space—only this time with far more capital, a global following, and a powerful media partnership with Netflix.

And yes, there’s money to be made. The global rosé market alone is worth over $5 billion, offering far more financial promise than drafting policy proposals or running for office.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry appears to be taking a lower-key approach, recently spotted on Instagram doing regular dad things. In contrast, Prince William is stepping up his statesmanship, delivering major speeches on the global stage.

What’s next for Meghan? A makeup line? Shapewear? Designer kitchen gadgets? Time will tell. But for now, fans and followers are waiting to see when they’ll get to pop open a bottle of “Meg-é.”

For those feeling impatient, there’s always King Charles’ own sparkling rosé from the Highgrove Estate—yours for just $72 a bottle.
