Just hours after her emotional engagement at Colchester Hospital, Princess Kate made a surprise stop at a private military event, underscoring her continued dedication to both healthcare and armed forces communities.
Following her official visit to the hospital, the Princess of Wales attended the 2 Para Cultural Day—a special celebration organized by the Parachute Regiment.
Photos shared by the charity Support Our Paras showed the 43-year-old royal mingling with paratroopers, still dressed in her tweed blazer, striped blouse, and brown trousers from earlier that day.
One image captured Kate affectionately holding a small puppy while chatting with members of the regiment.

The 2 PARA Cultural Day is held to honor the varied cultural backgrounds within the battalion. According to Support Our Paras, the event allows troops to come together and enjoy an array of international food and drink—activities that are both morale-boosting and educational. The organization expressed their pleasure in being able to discuss their work with attendees, including the Princess.
Kate’s Military Roles Highlight Her Continued Commitment
While King Charles holds the title of Colonel-in-Chief of the Parachute Regiment, Princess Kate has an impressive list of her own military appointments.
In 2023, she became Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm, Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards, and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Coningsby. She also serves as Colonel of the Irish Guards and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the Air Cadets. Her spontaneous visit with 2 PARA aligns with her longstanding support for the military.
