Prince William’s rare confession over missing Queen Elizabeth II after her d.e.a.t.h

In a rare and heartfelt television appearance, Prince William has admitted he still deeply misses his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Speaking candidly during an upcoming episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales reflected on her death and the lasting impact she left on him.

William welcomed the Schitt’s Creek star to Windsor Castle, a place deeply tied to the late queen. Seated together in the King’s Drawing Room, overlooking Eton College and West London, Levy gently asked: “Do you miss your grandmother?”

William softly replied: “I do actually, yeah. I do miss my grandmother and my grandfather.”

This intimate moment is one of the few times the heir to the throne has spoken publicly about the queen since her passing in September 2022.

“For Me, Windsor Is Her”

Reflecting on how much life has changed since the deaths of both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, William shared how Windsor continues to remind him of his grandmother.

“It’s been quite a bit of change. You think about them not being here anymore,” he said. “Particularly being in Windsor. For me, Windsor is her.”

He explained that giving Eugene a tour was also a way to honor the queen: “She loved it here. She spent most of her time here. Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it.”

William noted that Windsor held a special place in his grandmother’s heart because of the estate’s vast grounds, which allowed her to indulge in one of her greatest passions—horses.

“She had her horses here as well. It was a big deal for her. That’s why she loved it here,” he added.

A Royal Surprise for Eugene Levy

Levy, who travels the world exploring destinations on his bucket list for the series, was particularly interested in the traditions of the royal family as a Canadian and Commonwealth citizen. What he didn’t expect was a royal guide.

The surprise came in the form of a hand-delivered note from William at The Goring Hotel in London, the same hotel where Kate Middleton stayed before her 2011 wedding. The message read: “Why don’t you pop down to the Castle.”

When Levy arrived at Windsor, William greeted him by pulling up on a scooter and joked: “We provide this service for everyone. We do personalised tours everywhere!”

William’s Appearance on The Reluctant Traveler

William and his family have lived on the Windsor estate since August 2022, and they are expected to move into Forest Lodge, described as their “forever home,” later this year.

The prince’s guest appearance will air on the fourth episode of The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, streaming Friday, October 3, on Apple TV+.

In another preview clip, William reflects on more recent challenges, including his wife Kate’s and father King Charles’ cancer diagnoses. Speaking in a Windsor pub, he admitted: “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had. Life is sent to test us.”
