Austrian naturopath Rudolf Breuss (1899–1990) devoted his life to exploring natural therapies for serious illnesses. He is best known for developing a 42-day juice and herbal tea program, which he claimed could support the body in fighting cancer and other chronic diseases. Over the years, his method gained popularity, with thousands of patients following his regimen.
According to Breuss, cancer cells thrive on protein. His idea was that by avoiding protein-rich foods and consuming only a specific vegetable juice alongside herbal teas, cancer cells would “starve,” while healthy cells would be nourished and strengthened.
The Breuss Juice Recipe
Breuss’s special juice is made entirely from fresh, organic vegetables, with beetroot as the primary ingredient. His recommended proportions are:

- Carrots – 20%
- Celery – 20%
- Potatoes – 3%
- Radishes – 2%
Preparation
Simply wash the vegetables thoroughly, place them in a juicer, and drink the juice fresh. Breuss advised consuming only as much as the body requires, in small sips throughout the day, and combining it with selected herbal teas during the 42-day program.
