King Charles III recently drew public attention—not just for hosting French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, but for a noticeable change in his appearance that sparked widespread concern across social media.
Welcoming the Macrons in Royal Style
On July 8, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla formally received the French president and first lady during their state visit to the UK. Dressed in a royal blue suit with a coordinated tie and pocket square, Charles looked polished and formal, adding a touch of color with a violet boutonnière. Queen Camilla complemented him in a bold emerald dress, complete with a wide-brimmed hat, pearl necklace, gloves, and a silver handbag.
While the royal couple seemed poised during the official welcome, it was not their attire that ended up trending online.

A Bloodshot Eye Catches Public Attention
Photographs from the event revealed the king with a notably bloodshot right eye—a detail even more obvious in a TikTok video posted by The Sun. In the footage, Charles is seen standing among military officials and dignitaries before greeting Macron and other guests, including Prince William.
As the camera moved in, viewers were struck by the vivid red in his eye, creating a stark contrast to his otherwise composed demeanor. The Sun explained in the caption that the king appeared to have developed a burst blood vessel in his eye overnight. They added it was “understood to be unrelated to any other health conditions.”
