Prince Harry Returns to the UK for a Court Hearing – Photos

Part 1 of 2

The Duke of Sussex’s appearance in court marks a key chapter in his ongoing legal dispute with the Home Office over his security arrangements while in the UK.

Prince Harry was seen arriving at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Tuesday, April 8. His return for the hearing sparked a flurry of online reactions, with many critics expressing frustration over his continued legal efforts to secure personal protection.

Dressed in a dark suit and arriving in a black Range Rover, the duke gave a polite wave to the gathered media but didn’t answer any questions—including one asking if he planned to meet with his father, King Charles III, during the trip.

This hearing is the latest development in a legal case that dates back to September 2021, when Harry began challenging a decision made by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) in February 2020 to reduce his official UK security.

That decision came after Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped away from their royal duties and relocated to the United States. As a result, today’s hearing—kicked off by three judges reviewing the legal foundations of the case—marks a crucial point for the duke, who has expressed that his ability to return to the UK has been seriously affected due to the absence of government-funded security.

In a previous court session held in December 2023, a witness statement from Harry was read aloud, mentioning both his wife and children. “It was with great sadness for both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020,” the statement read.

The statement continued, “The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.”

In his remarks, Prince Harry emphasized that he couldn’t jeopardize his wife’s safety, and considering everything he has experienced in life, he’s also reluctant to put himself at risk without a valid reason.

Currently, the two-day hearing at the Court of Appeal is in progress, drawing significant public attention as people await the judges’ ruling.
