Is Harry Still Eligible to Become King?
Despite stepping back as a senior royal in 2020 alongside Meghan Markle, Prince Harry remains in the official line of succession. While he and Meghan no longer perform royal duties and no longer use their HRH titles in a professional capacity, they are still part of the royal family.
At present, Harry is fifth in line to the throne, behind his brother William and William’s three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Should King Charles step down or pass away, William would immediately ascend the throne. If William were to abdicate or die unexpectedly, the crown would pass first to George, then Charlotte, and then Louis. Harry would only inherit the crown if all four ahead of him were removed from succession.
In such an unlikely scenario, Harry would become king, with Meghan serving as queen consort. However, as George matures and eventually has children of his own, Harry’s place in line will naturally move further down, making the possibility even more remote.
