Donald Trump makes thinly veiled dig at Prince Harry during state banquet with Prince William, King Charles

Part 1 of 2

President Trump appeared to throw shade at Prince Harry during Wednesday’s Windsor Castle state banquet.

In his speech, the president praised King Charles III and Prince William, both present at the dinner.

“I just want to say that His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales. Really amazing,” Trump said, notably leaving out any mention of the Duke of Sussex.

The 79-year-old added that he and First Lady Melania Trump have “gotten to know” William, 43, during their time in England. “I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in the future,” he continued, also calling William’s wife, Kate Middleton, “so radiant and so healthy [and] so beautiful.”

Trump further commended Charles, 76, for his work with wounded veterans, saying he had helped “like nobody else.”

Overlooking Harry’s Veteran Advocacy

The omission raised eyebrows, given Harry’s long-standing efforts to support injured servicemen and women through the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014. Just last week, Harry was in Ukraine meeting with wounded veterans and pledging to do “everything possible” to support them.

Still, Trump credited Charles for uplifting “the poor” and caring “for rural farmers,” while keeping Harry out of his remarks.
